We are happy to announce that Michael Stearns will be starting as one of our Assistant Tennis Professionals at ESTC.
Michael grew up in New York. From his teen years through early twenties, he was a ranked tennis player and, then, a full-time tennis instructor. Michael was fortunate to train with some top coaches of the 1970s and ‘80s and he dedicated himself to the game of tennis. After a 35 year break to raise a family and run a technology business, Michael is back on the court. Michael is committed to helping students of all ages develop their tennis skills, movement, and strategic approach to achieve their maximum potential. He helps his students learn to practice with a sense of purpose and set goals, so that tennis is always fun and rewarding!
Michael is also dedicated to improving his own game. In 2023 he was ranked in the top 100 in the US in the Men’s 60+ division and won the Oregon State 60 and Over Indoor Championships. Michael says, “My approach to tennis is based on mastering technique, developing fitness, and cultivating a mental approach to the game that allows you to play with calmness, confidence, and tenacity. The joy of the game can be found in playing your best tennis and executing the right shots in the key moments of a match.”
When Michael is not on the tennis court, he enjoys playing music and taking hikes with his wife.
