Uxia Martinez was born in Spain and started her tennis career while combining it with soccer at a young age. When she turned 10, she decided to only focus on pursuing tennis at a more competitive national and international level. Through her junior career, she was ranked among the best players in Spain achieving a highest of Number 2 U14. Among her biggest achievements as a junior athlete, she won the National Doubles Championship in Spain partnering with Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (Current 78 WTA player), as well as 1 singles and doubles TennisEurope U16 championships and a second place in an ITF U18. At the age of 16 she also competed at the pro tour before starting her college career. In August of 2018, she obtained her first pro WTA point after beating Ines Murta (at the time #400 WTA player). After finishing her junior career, she was recruited by the University of Oregon and moved to the United States to represent the Oregon Ducks at the collegiate level. After her college career, she now ranks 4th in program history with 74 singles victories, clinched the victory for the first time in program history vs Stanford and holds 3 All-PAC-12 Honorable Mentions. She graduated in June 2024 with a double major in Neuroscience and Psychology. She is thrilled to join the ESTC team and empower every member to achieve their highest potential as well as fall in love with the sport as much as she is.
