Patrick Smith, Tennis Professional

Patrick and his fiancée, Emma, recently moved to Eugene from Sacramento, California, and are excited to become part of the ESTC community.

Patrick began his coaching career as the head coach of a high school boys’ tennis team in Sacramento. His four years with the program proved so rewarding that they inspired him to change his college major to kinesiology. He later became a certified teaching professional at Rio del Oro Sports Club, where he coached for more than seven years.

Although Patrick specializes in coaching competitive adult teams and junior players, he has worked with players of all ages and abilities. He especially enjoys seeing the learning process unfold on the court—and witnessing the moment when something clicks and a player takes the next step in their development.

Patrick describes himself as an enthusiastic, straightforward, and passionate coach who challenges players and helps them pursue their goals. A former Sacramento State player, he also continues to enjoy competing in tournaments and leagues while working to improve his own game.

Patrick looks forward to meeting our members and becoming part of the Eugene Swim & Tennis Club family!
